This book presents traditional Catholic Teaching with few allowances to relative values. Right is right & wrong is wrong. It propounds the belief that what people need to do is repent their sins, seek forgiveness and lead moral lives. Examples and case studies tend to reflect the Irish origins of its author. Some readers may find this an irritation. The unstated message of the book is that happiness and salvation can be achieved by living a life based upon; 1. prayer, 2. moral behavior and 3. concern for, and care of, the poor. Societies' many problems are caused by the absence of these in many people's lives. A book of this type, written by a serving RC priest, would usually be endorsed with an Imprimatur and perhaps a Nihil obstat. It is notable that this book has neither. Perhaps the author thought that in the light of the views of the present UK Catholic hierarchy it would not receive a warm welcome? However it is sure to appeal to the more traditional RC's as well as those of other denominations who are unhappy with the relativism of much modern moral teaching.
